Our Christmas tree this year

For the past 2 years we have gone somewhere different for Christmas with my parents and sister. I guess you could say that we think being "Home for the Holidays" is overrated! :) Two years ago we went to the Biltmore house in Asheville on Christmas eve and stayed in a bed and breakfast that night! Last year we traveled to Nashville to see the Rockettes at the Grande Ole Opry and then Louise Mandrel in a dinner show. This year we went to Atlanta to see the Coke museum and the aquarium. We always open presents on Christmas eve. It has been such a fun tradition, and even more now that Lael is here!

Here we are at a brewery in downtown Atlanta on the night of the 23rd.

I just love this hat on her!

At the Coke museum.

Before the 3d Coke show. It was really neat contrary to the look on our faces!

Us holding an actual Olympic torch from the Beijing Olympics (which we went to!)

My favorite-- Diet Coke!!

Tasting the Coke products of the world

Trey getting his free Coke :)

Lael with her first Coca-Cola!

Here we all are at the aquarium!

Granddaddy and Lael

Lael with her silver spoon from GramPatti and Granddaddy!

Baby's first Christmas ornament--in our favorite "Old World" style!

I was most excited about this gift (I even had Trey video tape us opening it!)--her first baby doll--Baby Huggums from the Madame Alexander Doll collection! It still thrills me to open up a doll at I miss those days, but now with this little girl I'll get to live them all over again! Thank you GramPatti and Granddaddy!

A cute little teddy bear pacifier holder! I love this thing because it's so soft, she can hold on to it, and we can easily keep track of her paci!

GramPatti with the sweet angel

Next, we headed on over to Rock Hill to spend a night at Trey's parents' house.

Pops and Mimi with the girl

Daddy always has the touch.

Uncle Mike doesn't know about all of this fussing!

Grandma Ashley, now known as Gigi

Granddaddy, Jan and Beth

The festivities aren't over quite yet! We are having our Christmas celebration on New Year's Day with my mom's side of the family! We are so looking forward to introducing Lael to some of them who haven't met her yet! More pics to come!

A trip to Lexington

Last Tuesday I made a day trip to Lexington to visit some very special people who had not met Lael yet. She was such a trooper through all the driving and rushing around. We had a great time! First we went to visit GramPatti at work...

...and then we went to see the Chetwood family! Here's Marni with Lael. Marni is such a good mom to her 3 little ones, and I pray I can be at least half as good as she is!

Here's proud Aunt Jess!

What a cute little family! :) I was so glad for Uncle B and Benson to finally meet Lael!

Benson is pretty serious about his kisses.

We went to see the Coleman's, too! I nannied for this family for a year when we lived in Lexington. I started taking care of their twins when they were nine months old. Taking care of two babies makes taking care of one seem a lot easier!

Our last stop was dinner with Jewitte!

Merry Christmas from Lael!

Who can resist putting a newborn in a stocking?! She looks like she's thinking, "Alright, I'll pose for your picture, but you people are nuts!"

"All I want for Christmas is my Auntie". This is of course Aunt Megan's favorite outfit on Lael!

Lael's first Christmas tree! Complete with Russian matryoshka doll ornaments!

This sweet thing truly is Daddy's favorite present!

One month old today!

I can hardly believe my girl is a month old already. It seems like yesterday we were in the hospital meeting her for the first time. The funny thing is that the last four weeks of my pregnancy drug on and on, but these past four weeks have just flown by. I love being a mom and my heart melts every time I look at this little one! I had no idea how strong my love for her would be. What a blessing this past month has been!
