the loop-dee-doo

Last week I noticed that Lael's hair on top has gotten significantly longer. Enough now to put a little bow in it! Woooohoooo! I also experimented with a new do that I think looks just fab on her.

It's called the Loop-Dee-Doo. Yes, I came up with the name. :) I used a little hair product to make it stick up and stay up, and...

Ta-Da!

She's totally digging it.

My inspiration??
Her GramPatti's baby picture!
And yes, I am completely aware of the fact that my child looks just like her grandmother. It is nuts. But I love it.

On another note, I have to give a shout out to one of my most fave blogs ever. You may have seen the link on my blog roll a while back. It's called Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. People have asked me if I personally know this girl, and the answer is no. I just stumbled across her blog a few years ago, fell in love with the beautiful pictures of her little girls and have followed it ever since. People-- her daughters are like live china dolls. And they know how to work the camera. She has them trained well. I am already working on Lael.
Kelly (the blogger) has since started her own photography business, and her work is phenomenal. Her web site it here. Her blog photos of her girls have been my inspiration for my own photos of my little girl. Although I still have much to learn.

I asked Trey if it would be weird for me to travel to Texas to have Kelly do a photo shoot of Lael. He said yes. That would be weird. Glad I have him to reign me in. I'll just have to wait until she's in SC. :)

A few months ago Kelly announced that she was selling some of her girls' clothes on Ebay. You better believe I jumped right on it. If you spend any amount of time looking at her blog you will see that her girls are dressed to the nines. All the time. In precious, different kind of stuff that you don't see everyday.
So, here is Lael in her "Lucy/Annie dress" as I like to call it. With her Loop-Dee-Doo hairdo.

  1. Hi Kelli - This is Sydney from high school. I stumbled on your blog through Facebook, and then also fell in love with Kelly's blog/pictures. Since we don't have babies of our own yet to dress in her girls' fabulous hand-me-downs, I just had to comment and say how excited I am that you jumped on the opportunity. Lael looks adorable!

  2. Well, I'm glad to know it's called the "Loop-Dee-Doo." I have definitely told numerous people it is the "Doop-Dee-Doo." Haha.

  4. Hi!
I read In the Sky with Diamonds too!
I stumbled across your blog a while back and thought your Lael was just beautiful. And I love her name. I read a few posts and enjoyed it, so I went back to the very beginning of your blog and read all the way through. I feel a little like I know you now haha. Even though you don't know who I am!
My name is Brittany and I am the mother to a beautiful little 12 month old baby girl Jovianna. Thanks for sharing some of you life with us bloggers :)

  5. Hi Kelli! I just wanted to let you know that I have been keeping up with your blog since I saw it on your blush and bashful website. We also have some friends in common from our alma mater, CSU. I am taken away with sweet, sweet Lael. She is just gorgeous, and those look alike pictures of her and Gram Patti are phenomenal! I am from Spartanburg. I know you are loving the upstate! Greenvegas is fab. Keep up the great blog!

  6. Hi, Courtney! She doesn't sell the clothes on a regular basis. She just did it that one time and I have no idea when or if she will do it again.

Sydney, Brittany, and Erin- so nice to hear from you!
