you've got a friend

These girls were all born within 3 days of each other. Sweet, sugary, lovely little girls. Apparently something was in the water in Greenville during February of 2009.

Left to right: Lillian, Lael, Julianne, Ava

We stuck lil' Emma Kate on the end to top off the preshness.

Jack and Jo-Jo are quite the stud muffins.

Lael and Hailey show off their sweet chub.
All the while making it evident that they are really unsure about what is going on right now.

Stephen and John give Lael lessons on how to work the camera. Yes, these energetic sweeties sat still while those beautiful eyes burned a hole in my lens. Love 'em.

What fun is fall without the fair?

The first picture was taken last year at the fair where I played the "guess my weight" game and the dude guessed that I was 30 lbs. heavier than I actually was.
Yep, I won a prize.

I didn't dare play that game again 'cause if he had been that off this year, well, frankly, it may have hurt my feelings a little. :)

Tryin' somethin' new 'round here. Would love for you to join in the fun! I am hosting...

...for those of you who are like me and are, well, a little too snappy happy.

How it works:
-Copy and paste my button with the link back to at the beginning of your post. (Simply copy the HTML in the scrolly box and place it in the "edit HTML" part of your blogger post.)
If you have questions or need help just leave a comment and I will try my best to assist you.

-Post your favorite fall themed picture in a new post on your own blog. You don't have to have a fancy camera or editing software to enter. It can be of anyone or anything that is related to fall. It can be old or recent.

-Link up below and a thumbnail of your picture will show up so that everyone else can see it and click on it! Please link up your individual post--not your entire blog.

-We will randomly choose a winner, and if you win you'll receive a $5 Target gift card! (Yes, yes, I know it's only $5, but hey, if you win you'll be $5 richer than you were before, right?!)

I'm looking forward to seeing what all of you other photo fanatics have been up to!

<a href=""><img src=""/></a>

Here's my picture. Didn't include it in the post with the others. Thought you might get a kick out of it. I kinda did. :)

I like to call it:
"Done and DONE"

Done with the hat,
done with the camera,
done with the grass,
and done with the pumpkins.

You have from now until Sunday at midnight(eastern time) to enter! I will announce the winner on Monday!

Eleven months

As we approach the one year mark {insert statement, "she's growing way too fast"}, I have begun to think more and more about Lael's future and the little girl, young lady, and woman she will become. I try not to ponder on this too long because it's really difficult for me to imagine very far into the great unknown. When I was pregnant with her I could barely imagine giving birth to her, much less seeing her as a one month old, and much less seeing her at ELEVEN months. But here we are.

We have been specifically praying that Lael would have a soft heart. A soft heart towards her parents' guidance and discipline, and above all, a soft heart towards her Creator. As we pray for God's leading in raising our daughter, I can't help but recall this verse:

"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6

Can I be honest for a minute? Good. I'm glad. :)

There aren't many things more humbling than praying for your own child.

As I pray for Lael to possess the fruits of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control), it kind of comes full circle. More than anything I need Him to change me, to soften my heart, to instill in me the fruits of the spirit, and to give me wisdom so that I can be an appropriate model for my daughter.

I realize that I will fail miserably. Probably on a daily basis. That is a very blunt and honest statement, I admit, but it's true. I will mess up.
and thank God for the but...

I have a Savior who has already covered me. He alone will be the one to capture her heart and bring her to Himself. He alone carries her future, and He alone will be the one to cover everything that I cannot.

And so as I pray for my precious daughter, I pray for myself. Oh, that God would work in me and through me. Oh, that He would grant me grace, and oh, that He would grant me mercy.

...for Greenville.

Every year our lovely city has "Fall for Greenville". It's located on Main Street in the heart of downtown, and vendors from restaurants all over the area come and set up shop and serve tasty morsels from their best dishes.

A new delight and a new problem:

I tried gelato a long time ago--probably a few years ago, and for some reason didn't really think much of it. I've never made it a point to try it again. They must not have made it good or something.

'Cause, ya'll. It. is. good.
Like, sinfully good.
Like, it's going to be a problem that I like it so much.
Bad for your waistline and your wallet.

When it's made well, it is the creamiest bowl of heaven you will ever put in your mouth.

We had so much fun on Saturday that we went again on Sunday for lunch!

Punkin hunt

We went to find a pumpkin to put outside our door.
My mom can't take just 5 cute pics, she has to take much more.

My good friend, Julianne, and I didn't know what we would see.
But a pumpkin hunt is so very fun, just as mom said it would be!

We had the place all to ourselves, the only ones in the patch.
And Jules and I were a sight to see with our pumpkin shirts that match!

Some pumpkins were short, some were tall, and some were kind of sick.
My mom said that those had warts on them, and would not be ones we'd pick.

A perfect pumpkin is hard to find, one that is pretty, plump and round.
Momma walked around a while just looking at the ground.

I've never played with pumpkins. It's all so very new.
Not sure what all the hype's about, but they sure are nice to chew.

Such a splendid time was had by me and my special friend!
So glad we found our pumpkin, but so sad for it to end.

Momma couldn't stop snapping, but at picture two fifty one...

She finally put her camera down and exclaimed that she was
