just a lil' bitta Christmas

Christmas was as merry as merry can be around the Ingram home.

Dreams of a white Christmas became a reality.

Baby boo #2 was never far from the forefront of our minds.
My heart was full and so was my belly.

Amidst the eating, unwrapping, and playing like we were kids again, amidst the sweet exhaustion from a busy Christmas day with a busy little girl...

... we thanked our Lord for the gift of Jesus and His blessings that abound.

two words

survival mode.

Most days I have felt like this.

Many days we have stayed in our pajamas all day long and I have spent a lot of time right here in this bed.
I didn't take a picture of myself...
'cause I didn't want to break your computer screen.

It's been a rough road these past couple of months. Morning sickness as "they" like to call it (many of us know the real truth though... this sickness has no time frame.) is like a bad dream you would like to forget. One that I tried to forget after I went through it the first time. There were days when I thought to myself,
"How would I do this if I had a child?" Ha.

Well, I did it. It was hard. The Lord sustained me though and I walked through it one baby step at a time.

We ate out a lot. We got take-out a lot. But that's just the way it had to be. Not ideal, but necessary to get through a temporary stage of pregnancy. 'Cause if I cook it, I can not eat it.

I'm starting to 'round the bend. These days I'm feeling the worst in the evenings, but I can tell that it's getting better.

During my times of rest I have often brain stormed ways that I could make myself feel better. 'Cause I'll be honest, I hate nausea, and I would rather have a head cold than feel like I'm going to throw up at any moment.

I quickly realized that you must eat to get through the sickness, but the thing about it is that eating is the last thing you want to do. What a conundrum.

Sooooo, one ridiculous invention I have come up with is an IV/feeding tube sort of thing that just pumps all of your food and nutrition into your body so that you don't actually have to put it in your mouth and swallow it. A constant stream of food so that your stomach doesn't get empty and you don't in turn feel sick. Don't you think that's genius?? :)

I guess this is just proof of how desperately far my mind wanders in moments of, well, desperation.

I couldn't be more thankful for such a sweet little girl who has been easy on her momma during this time. I'm so grateful for her wonderful sleeping habits, so that I could get the rest I have needed.

She keeps going, and I've had to keep going, too. It's been good for me. Hard sometimes, but a good lesson in perseverance. I'm going to need it in about 6 months from now!

I'm thinkin' survival never looked so darn cute.

'Tis true

Yes, our little Lael is going to be a, well, ...

We are over the moon excited about this new baby on the way. Absolutely. Thrilled!!

Our due date is June 28 which makes us 12 weeks along. Lael and #2 will be about 19 months apart in age. Whoa. I mean, I know people have babies much closer than that all the time, but all I'm sayin' is I think it's gonna be a wild ride. I can't wait to meet this new blessing, but there's no doubt that I'm going to soak up every last bit of my time with just my one little baby.

Trey and I praise God for a second undeserved gift. He has been gracious to us and has answered yet another fervent prayer.

The stuff I'm lovin'

I'm lovin ' our tree all covered in lights,
in our home during Christmas it's my favorite of sights.

christmastime1 christmastime2

I'm lovin' this scene of our Jesus, King of Kings,
it's just another one of my favorite things.

I'm lovin' our mantle and the fire lit below,
but I really wish the weatherman would promise us snow!

This Christmas there's another thing I'm absolutely lovin'...

... it's the sweet little bun I've got bakin' in my oven! ;)

Beach front Thanksgiving

This year we traveled to Garden City to my aunt and uncle's beach house for our Thanksgiving feast. I loved watching Lael pig out on all of the delicious, traditional turkey and trimmings.

Lael had plenty of doting, beautiful blondes to play with...

... and some pipe smokin' with my uncle is like the whipped topping on top of a pumpkin pie for Trey. He always looks forward to this quality man time.

Bryan was barely able to join us as he was fiercely fighting the stomach flu. Apparently Emily, Trey and I didn't get the "everyone act like you might die if Bryan breaths on you" memo for this picture.

So thankful for all of these sweet members of our family.

the after party

Our time with the Ryan's isn't really complete without a photo shoot with Benson and Lael. It most always includes a lot of bribing. Benjamin bribed him with candy, but I totally trumped him when I told Benson that he could actually have one of the big red balloons. Hook, line and sinker. Done.

It's really the sitting still and looking at the camera that takes bribing... clearly not the puckering up. I mean, he is a boy. It comes naturally. :)

This boy loves "The Bopper". This is his current name for her. It started out as "Laelie Bop", then "Laelie Bopper", and now it's "The Bopper", or "Bopper" for short.

It just makes me smile every time he says it.

This would probably be the moment when I confirmed to him that, yes, indeed, he actually could take the balloon home.

I didn't want to leave out this picture of me on my first birthday. I love the look of excitement of my momma's face. :)

... and a picture of Lael just for comparison sake. Mini me?
I think yes.

The party

If you know me, you know I like to have a theme. Not just any 'ol theme, one that is somewhat significant. For Lael's first birthday party I decided to play on her most recent role as Raggedy Ann. I was as busy as a bee with all of my party creations, and once I got started... well, I kinda couldn't stop. :)

Here's the invite created by the wonderful and talented Jess. Go check out her web site.

Jess and I kind of tag teamed it with picture taking, but she took the bulk of the photographs. This is something that we try to do for one another, and being on the receiving end of it this time, it was such a blessing.

For party favors I painted these little wooden peg dolls as Raggedy Ann and Andy. The children received the dolls and the adults received some delish Jelly Belly beans! I used to love playing with little people figures when I was little and hopefully these (once they don't pose as choking hazards!) will be a great source of imaginative entertainment.
