Christmas twenty ten

We started off Jesus' birthday celebration on Christmas eve at Mimi and Pops' house. Complete with a cake for baby Jesus and about 10 seconds of attempting to read the Christmas story. Maybe next year. :)

Lael got her first tastes of Christmas gift chaos.

We headed home that night in order to nestle all snug in our own beds. But not without visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads. Actually, what am I saying? The thought of sugar plums makes me wanna, well... ahem... you know. But these days, what doesn't?

Lael woke up very chipper. Because we usually don't have the video camera rolling when we get her up in the mornings, I think she started to wonder what was up. We brought her into the living room and tried our very best to oooooo and aaaah over the fun new things sitting on the floor. The ball popper was a hit. It had better be because the thing drives me bonkers!

Another home run was the gift that I spent absolutely no money on. The little gold purse Lael is holding was free with another purchase, and I filled it with free make-up samples for her to play with when I'm putting on my make-up in the mornings. She absolutely loves it. It stays in our bathroom so that she doesn't have access to it unless I give it to her. I learned quickly that if it is dubbed a "toy" and is thrown in with all the other riffraff then it becomes completely uninteresting. Why is that?

GramPatti and Granddaddy were at our house that morning for all of the festivities, and then we met Bryan and Megan for lunch at the Hilton in Greenville. It was quite delightful, and even more delightful that I didn't have to cook it or clean it up. :)

Lael wore the smocked ribbon dress that my mom made for me when I was a baby. I loved seeing it on her all day long. I think my mom probably loved it even more.

After lunch the newlyweds joined us for more gift opening.

A rosey cheeked little girl and a lovely dusting of snow made for a perfect Christmas day.

  1. You have a beautiful family! Don't you just love that your daughter can wear some of your old things? I'm so glad my mom kept some of mine for my kids. Also, we have one of those ball popper things & it drives.me.crazy too!!

  2. Kelly, I'm really going to steal Lael! She is too cute - I know, you probably get tired of me saying that! but 'tis true! (: So glad y'all had a wonderful Christmas!

  3. The ball popper has a different name in our house. It's called "Mommy go fetch the balls while being annoyed by really loud noise" toy. Lael is so cute!!
