an easter morning

Sunday morning started out with the discovery of the Easter basket, and her reaction to all of her goodies didn't disappoint!

We then headed to a wonderful worship service at our church with my parents. Yes! My daddy was able to come, and you wouldn't have even known that he had just had brain surgery! I'm so mad at myself... would you believe that I managed to not get one picture of him the whole day?! Men do have a sneaky way of avoiding the camera. :)

Don't you think my brother-in-law looks like a model? Well, I can say that without getting in trouble with the hubs 'cause my brother-in-law IS a model! Ha!
You should go vote for him in this contest that he is currently WINNING! It's an international modeling contest and if he wins the number one male spot he wins a trip to Spain to gain even more exposure! Only 5 days left of voting and you can vote every 24 hours!

All of the girls together

My big ol' Easter egg was one egg that could not be hidden. :)

I love these two Megans.

"There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ"

my little easter bunny

My little honey bunny has changed a lot in year's time.
But she's just as sweet. :)

dying eggs with a toddler

Does this picture make you as nervous as it makes me?

After I took it, I promptly put my camera down.

Dying eggs with a toddler...

... isn't all it's cracked up to be. :)

But this toddler makes it all worth it.

But he was wounded for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his stripes we are healed.

a sprinkle for kathryn

A couple of weeks ago I hosted a "sprinkle" at my house for my dear friend, Kathryn. She, Mark, and Julianne will be welcoming a baby boy in about 3 weeks!
In the most recent months Kathryn and I have indulged in a LOT of high calorie food together. From chocolate chip cookies to sour gummies, if it's bad for you, we've probably eaten it together. It's so nice to have a friend you can do that with and not feel guilty about it, and Kathryn is one of those friends. We've had so much fun sharing in the sweet joys of pregnancy. No pun intended. :)

I pretty much look like a pregnant elf standing next to Kathryn. Lovely.

Speaking of pregnancy...
I have never had this many hormones floating around my house at once...

The majority of the women at the sprinkle were expecting and we couldn't help but get a picture of all of us together in order of due dates. :)

30 weeks

Today marks 30 weeks!

You can see my 30 weeks picture with Lael here... along with the same old window pane on our bedroom wall that Trey uses for our daily countdown. :)

surgery complete

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. The surgery was a success and the surgeon was able to get all of the tumor that he could see. Now we will wait to see if the tumor is, indeed, Merkel Cell Carcinoma. The pathologist seemed to be pretty confident that it is, but we won't know for sure for a few days.

I couldn't leave you without pictures. :)
Here is a picture from this morning before Daddy went back for surgery.

And here's Aunt Meg hanging out with the girl. She has been an absolute angel all morning and afternoon even without a nap. Having plenty of sweet family and friends to dote on her helped tremendously. :)

Daddy is now in ICU for recovery, and doing well! We just got to go up and spend some time with him and he is awake, talking and drinking water. Praise the Lord for a day full of answered prayers! Thank you all so much for praying and for your encouraging words. It means more than you know.

A year ago Lael's Granddaddy (my dad) was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Carcinoma, underwent chemotherapy and radiation over the summer and thankfully had clear scans last September. After a few weeks of experiencing some strange symptoms he decided to call his doctor and they had him come in for an MRI and CT scan last Friday. My dad's suspicions were confirmed, and we learned on Monday that he has two tumors on his brain.

He will be undergoing surgery tomorrow morning around 9:30 to remove one of the tumors (one that is quite large), and will then undergo radiation in three weeks to shrink the other tumor. We are thankful that the tumor to be removed is relatively easy to get to and that doctors don't expect the surgery to damage his brain. The doctors are 90% sure that these tumors are related to the Merkel Cell Carcinoma he had a year ago. It is known to have a 50% chance of coming back. In his case, it has metastasized to his brain.

It is a scary time. A time of uncertainty, questions and waiting. But we are confident in the One who holds life in His hands. Our God is the Great Physician, and He is in control. We are praying that He would heal my daddy and that He would give the doctors wisdom and discernment tomorrow as they perform the surgery. If you think about it, will you pray along with us? Pray for peace for my daddy and my momma as they walk through this, and for healing in the weeks ahead. We are so thankful for friends and family who have been such a great support system during this difficult time.

I love this picture. It was taken last summer when he was in the midst of chemo treatments. Lael can always put a smile on his face!

We love you, Daddy and we are all standing behind you!
