28 and 28

I could say that I'm a lucky girl...

... if I believed in luck.
But I don't.
Blessed sounds more like it.

Today I am 28 weeks along and yesterday my best friend turned 28 years old.

I'm so thankful the Lord has blessed my life with Jess, and for all of the birthdays that we have shared with one another. I'm also so thankful that we have been able to walk this journey of pregnancy together. The next time we take pictures together that sweet little bundle of hers will be in her arms!

Our families spent the weekend together doing a whole lotta blissful nothing. :) Jess is on bed rest and has been since she was 26 weeks along in her pregnancy, so lounging around was just what the doctor ordered. Fine by me! The boys spent a good bit of Saturday playing golf, and we stayed home watching movies while the kiddos napped. On Sunday we laid out and sunned our buns (our buns in the oven, not our other buns. That would've been weird and disturbing.)

Yesterday also marked 34 weeks and 4 days of Jessica's pregnancy, which is precisely when she gave birth to Benson after being on bed rest with him as well. It's looking more and more like she may go full term with this baby boy!

We've come a long way since the last time we were together!
Just to be clear, I'm having a girl and Jess is having a boy. We realized while taking these pictures that we were wearing the wrong team colors. ;)

I can't even believe that there are six of us in this picture. I can just about guarantee you that this is as good as it's gonna get. We might pull our hair out if we ever try to get a picture of all of us with the babies out of utero.

How far along?: 28 weeks. Here is my picture with Lael.
Total weight gain/loss: + 11 lbs.
Maternity clothes? I'm so glad to start wearing my summer stuff that I have from when I was pregnant with Lael. Those lightweight dresses are so comfy.
Stretch marks? none
Sleep: Pretty good.
Best moment this week: My best friend and I baking our bellies in the sun together. :)
Movement: Seems like she is constantly moving. She's starting to kick me in the ribs.
Cravings: Not really. I'm getting to the point where I get full really fast and just don't have enough room for a lot of food.
Gender: sweet girl
Labor Signs: No, but the braxton hicks contractions have increased.
Belly Button in or out? still in.
What I am looking forward to: We're going to get a 3D ultrasound when I hit 30 weeks! I can't wait to see this girl's face!
Random facts: Despite all of the pollen, my sinuses are doing much better these days! I still get a little bit stuffy at night, but it is NOTHING like it was. I have no complaints!
Milestones: Happy to be well into the third trimester! Ruthie-girl, not too much longer now!

This is such a special time for you and Jessica and it's so great that ya'll get to spend it together! I hope that when I am pregnant I will look as great as ya'll do!

  2. I can't even TELL you how special it was to have yall down here this past weekend. You took what would have otherwise been a very uneventful birthday weekend and made it so fun and special. I really appreciate yall making the effort to trek down here and for being will to do "nothing" with us all weekend. Doing NOTHING with yall is really SOMETHING! :) Loveyousomuch and I'm SO THANKFUL for you!!!!!!! :)

  3. My friend showed me your blog a few weeks ago (specifically the post on how to get baby to sleep better). I must say, I love it! It's great to find a blog that focuses on the things that I want to focus on. I also prayed for the child currently growing in my belly and I am so thankful and thrilled for this little boy that we'll soon meet!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your blog and I'm looking forward to continue reading it. God bless you and your family.

  4. You look beautiful! We are praying for your family and especially your daddy! May I ask where you got your shirt? I love it - it's simple, fitted, and doesn't look frumpy :) We're taking family portraits outside while our daughter is the only baby outside my belly... and simple, pretty, and not frumpy is my goal :)

  5. Heidi, thanks so much for your prayers! I got my shirt from Target!
