Two under two.
Not gonna lie. It's work. My time and energy is completely poured out to these two little bodies.
The opportunities to think about what I want or need are few and far between.
Thankfully, I have a husband who is like a refuge at the end of a long day.
My days are a blur of feeding people.
Feeding myself so that I can in turn feed my newborn.
Feeding my toddler and making sure my husband has a fully belly, too.
I wipe bottoms.
I change one diaper only to turn around to change another.
There are times when BOTH of them are crying and I feel like my head is spinning.
My hair is kept up in a perpetual bun.
My shirts are milk stained.
My mind is scattered.
Pump parts, sippy cups and pacifiers are strewn out all over my kitchen counters.
I pick up one mess while my daughter makes another.
This IS what I signed up for.
I wouldn't be anywhere else.
(Well, if we're keepin' it real here, I wouldn't complain if you put me on a secluded tropical island with my husband for about a week.:)
God has so graciously entrusted me with these two precious creations, and I don't want to miss ANYthing.
This domestic lifestyle... I certainly don't have it down to a science, and I won't pretend to love housework.
But these days at home with my children filled with book reading and breast feeding, laundry and dishes, cooking and cleaning...
This is my calling.
It's what I asked for...
... and I thank God everyday for answering my prayers.

Is it any surprise to you that my camera has been quite busy these past 3 weeks? It's such a delight to have a new little girl to take pictures of. Here are a couple of my faves and then some of a few special visitors...
I love her eyes in this one. I don't get to see them very often so when she opens them I get my camera out!
My Memama and Aunt Peggy came for the day a couple of weeks ago and met the little girl.
Memama holding a second Patricia. The first being my mom. :)
Ruthie is her fourth great grand baby.
Grandmama (my dad's mom)-- one of Ruthie's other great grandmothers. Ruthie is her third great grand baby.
This little tasty treat is what we have given out to our visitors-- a Peppermint "Patti" and a Baby Ruth. :)
The day finally came for my first day ALONE. With both girls. With no help. I'll admit, it was a little bit intimidating.
Okay, maybe a lot intimidating.
Thankfully Kathryn came over that morning, brought breakfast and kept us company (and sane!).
Our new babes meet for the first time, and Manning shows off his muscles while he puts the moves on Ruthie. :)

We made our first road trip to my parents' house in Lexington for the 4th! Both girls slept almost the whole way there. Success.
Lil' miss independent is a LOT more independent than she was last year. :)
I can't tell you how proud I am of this little girl. She went tubing for the first time and LOVED it! Can we all check out her little legs in this picture? Love. Also, take a wild guess at how old that life jacket is-- yep, it was mine.
This is her "Is everyone seeing what I'm doing right now?!" face.

We headed on home as a family of four on Thursday, June 23!
Here's the little girl all dressed up with nowhere to go...
Too bad since she was looking so presh. :)
This picture kind of blows my mind.
No caption needed. :)

The first few days of my girls' lives have been ones that I have tucked away in my memory bank forever. They are precious days to me. Getting to know this new person, learning what makes her tick, studying every little dimple, every little facial feature and expression, rubbing my nose on her fuzzy forehead, kissing her perfect rosebud lips, and drinking in her sweet, newly born babe aroma. Those moments can't be bought, and they can't be relived.
Lael's first encounter with her new sister went very well...
... and she was thrilled to have a new baby, just like Mommy. :)
Little sister?? What little sister?
Mimi and Pops
Uncle Bryan... not much has changed in the past 19 months! :) (scroll all the way down)
